Joining the girls' high school track team. HELP!!!!!?
I'm going to be a freshman in high school next month and I'm thinking about joining track in 10th grade. Should I do winter track or spring track. What are the pros and cons? BTW, I'm a fast runner but I can't run for a really long time. Should I do sprinting, or whatever they call it? In the sprinting events, can I pick whatever I want to do? Can I just do the 100 meter sprint and nothing else? And what are the practices like? And what are track meets? Ok, last question: do You Get medals at track meets, if not, where? Thanks!
BTW, I'm only 100 pounds and 4ft. 11 inches. And don't call me anorexic! I have small stature since I'm Asian, so no negative answers!
Well, it's been a very long time since I did track in high school. You do not have to do all events, just ones that you're best suited for physically. I used to do 100 meter and cross country. I also used to do the running long jump. I had a friend that did nothing but the shotput event. So, you should be able to do what fits you athletically. As far as weight....you sound just right. Seeming I'm also Asian and am 113 lbs, but I'm 5 foot 6 inches. I know what it's like for someone to say that you're too thin. But everyone is made differently. We all do the best we can. If you feel good and are comfortable with who you are, regardless of size (big or small), then don't worry about what others would think.
